How is our way of living with and caring for a garden changing in a changing climate? Carlo Contesso, curator of the Park of Grazzano Visconti Castle, draws on his hands-on experience to offer a reflection on the future of gardens and their relationship with nature.
Climate change is altering the conditions in which plants and gardens grow and thrive, raising new questions: which species should we choose, how should we manage water, how can we preserve biodiversity, and how should we rethink the maintenance of green spaces? Historic gardens, too, are being called upon to face these transformations, seeking a balance between conservation, beauty and adaptability.
Drawing on the specific case of the Park of Grazzano Visconti, Contesso will explore how caring for a garden today also means understanding its delicate ecosystems and accompanying them through change.
A talk that invites us to see the garden not simply as a place to design and preserve, but as a living ecosystem, capable of evolving alongside the climate and the way we relate to nature.
At the end of the talk, Carlo Contesso will lead the audience on a walk through the park, offering the opportunity to observe first-hand the elements and choices that bring the dialogue between history, nature, care and change to life.
