Have you ever imagined that a sheet of paper could be transformed into something resembling fabric or leather?

With Joomchi, an ancient Korean technique, it is possible. Starting with Hanji, traditional mulberry paper still handcrafted today, water and hand-working transform it into a surprisingly strong, flexible and mouldable material, without the use of glue or other products.

During the workshop, you will experience this transformation first-hand, learn the technique and create your own unique piece of Joomchi, ready to be used and reinterpreted through your creativity.

Joomchi has its roots in the ancient history of Korea, when paper was transformed into durable and functional objects, from small pouches and everyday utensils to actual garments.

Now it’s your turn to discover how paper can be transformed.

A hands-on, original and sustainable workshop for anyone who loves experimenting with new materials, techniques and creative possibilities.

At the end of the workshop, you will take home your very own piece of Joomchi, handmade by you and created by transforming simple mulberry paper into a beautiful new material with a texture remarkably similar to fabric.
