A VISIONARY

Grazzano Visconti’s castle and village came to a new life at the beginning of the 20th century thanks to the utopian vision of a single man, Duke Giuseppe Visconti di Modrone. He designed and built an ideal place where people could live in harmony with nature and cultivate fine arts and crafts.

Giuseppe Visconti planned also the gardens surrounding the castle. The eclectic inspiration of the park harmonizes different sceneries and styles: the symmetrical shapes of the “Italian” garden, idyllic woods and scented roses, exotic and luxuriant bamboos, beautiful baroque statues and fountains.
